The CNES was created in May 1965 with the following tasks:

-       Carry out research on the use of renewable energies especially solar energy and ensure the dissemination of results;

-       Participate in the prospective studies and diagnostics in the use of Renewable Energies for all sectors of the national economy;

-       Participate in training on Renewable Energy;

-       Helping to promote the dissemination of renewable energy equipment.
